Animal Procurement

All of the rodents and rabbit used in NUCAR are procured from reliable sources that meet specifications for protocol needs. Only animals authorized in the NUACUC approved protocol are ordered, and the animal acquisition is processed solely by the NUCAR. A health status report accompanies each shipment of animals. Upon delivery, each shipment is inspected by a well-trained animal caretaker for compliance to specifications listed in the procurement document (NUCAR F01-05). The rodents and rabbit are routinely undergo an acclimatization period prior to their use on a research protocol. So far, all rodent species or rabbit are purchased from National Laboratory Animal Center or Siam Nomura (the distributer of CLEA Inc., Japan) which are maintained high-quality of animal supplies in all aspects. All supplied animals need to provide health certificate along with each order.

Transportation of Animals

Animals purchased from either National Laboratory Animal Center, Siam Nomura Inc. are transported in reinforced cardboard containers to NUCAR by a temperature-controlled truck.   The animals are unloaded at the specified area.  The containers are sprayed with 70% alcohol for disinfection before being transferred into the building.Regarding the transportation of the animal within Naresuan University, the NUCAR SOP No. 01-06 must be followed.
